Thanks to your generous support on Giving Tuesday, Chicago Coalition for the Homeless exceeded our $60,000 challenge-grant goal, raising a total of $95,139.
Kudos to the 365 donors who generously gave $73,608 on Giving Tuesday. An additional 99 donors gave $15,282 in honor of Giving Tuesday before and after the official day, December 1. The College of American Pathologists (CAP) also raised $6,250 in honor of Giving Tuesday.
In prior years, the CAP staff of almost 700 people celebrated Giving Tuesday by participating in a service project. This year, COVID-19 made that impossible, so they hosted a fundraising effort benefiting CCH instead. By week’s end, they had more than doubled their $3,000 goal.
Giving Tuesday supporters were inspired by generous challenge grants from Blistex and an anonymous donor. Together, they offered to match all Giving Tuesday donations to CCH, dollar-for-dollar, up to our goal of $60,000 total.
We are especially grateful to those who helped promote this day of giving. Eleven people created personal fundraising pages. Serving as “Giving Tuesday Ambassadors,” they asked friends and family to make Giving Tuesday gifts. Countless others helped by sharing and engaging with our Giving Tuesday-themed posts on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
Many thanks to our Giving Tuesday Ambassadors: Jessica Staiger from our Board of Directors, Sophie Babcock from our Associate Board, staff members Julie Dworkin, Patricia Nix-Hodes, Nick Jefferson, Claire Sloss, Mary Tarullo, Doug Schenkelberg, Sherry Matthews, and Destiny Carter, and supporter David Kirk. Several others supported us by creating Facebook fundraisers on Giving Tuesday.
To preserve our independent voice, CCH does not accept government funding. CCH could not operate without the generosity of individuals and foundations in our community that share our commitment to ending homelessness. All donations are tax-deductible.
