Take action today to stop Illinois municipalities from punishing people for experiencing homelessness.Ā HB 1429Ā is Illinois’ response to the U.S. Supreme Court’sĀ Grants Pass v. JohnsonĀ decision, which determined that people experiencing homelessness can be arrested and fined for sleeping outside even when there are no safe alternatives.

The Illinois House of Representatives Housing Committee is holding a hearing on this bill THIS MORNING. Please submit a witness slip as a PROPONENT of “HFA 3ā€ to help move this bill forward NOW.

Organization/Individual

If you aren’t designated and authorized to represent an organization or group in an official capacity, write ā€œSelfā€ for ā€œFirm/Business or Agencyā€ and ā€œNAā€ for your ā€œTitleā€ and leave ā€œRepresentationā€ blank.Ā Organizations should designate only one person to complete the witness slip on their behalf.
