- School or education issues, including enrollment, fee waivers, and transportation access for Pre K through grade 12 students, and FAFSA assistance for college students
- Public benefits access, including food stamps (SNAP), TANF, health insurance/Medicaid, and SSI disability
- Birth certificates
- Family law, including child support and custody
- Consumer and credit issues
- Housing law
- Discrimination/civil rights
- Sealing/expunging criminal records

Legal Aid Chicago
Legal Aid Chicago’s online application is available 24/7. Legal Aid Chicago’s Client Screening Unit can also be reached at (312) 341-1070. Legal services include housing, family, immigration, income & debt, work & employment rights, health & public benefits, The intake line accepts calls weekdays beginning at 8 a.m. with a limited number of intakes taken per day. The line will remain open until that limit is reached.
Provides self-help legal assistance including assisting in creating legal paperwork, guidance with legal issues, etc. ILAO opens opportunities for justice by educating Illinoisans about their rights and connecting them to lawyers, solutions, and each other.

Provides legal services involving citizenship, permanent residency, asylum seekers, DACA & DREAMers, detained immigrants, victims of human trafficking, LGBTQ+ immigrants, unaccompanied immigrant children, and immigration court help desk. Phone intakes are accepted Tuesday – Thursday from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm for most services by calling (312) 660-1370. Assistance can be obtained anytime using the NIJC Assistance Chatbot on the bottom right of the website.
