TheĀ Keep Chicago HousedĀ campaign is asking theĀ city to includeĀ funding in next year’s budget to preventĀ 3,000 ChicagoansĀ from losing their homes.Ā Ā

Without local support, many of our neighbors who have finally found stability and safety will be pushed back into homelessness.Ā Ā

Share personal experience:Ā I know whatĀ it’sĀ likeĀ to/IĀ have family or friends who [face homelessness/live paycheck to paycheck/live in fear of losing my housing] andĀ that’sĀ why I am fighting for proven solutions to homelessness and housing instability.Ā

More than 50,000 people are experiencing homelessness in Chicago, sleeping on sidewalks, onĀ couches,Ā and inĀ shelters.Ā We are all feeling the pressure of increasing costs – from our rent to the food we put on our tables.Ā The realityĀ isĀ more of our neighbors are being pushed into homelessness every dayĀ as it becomes even more difficult to make ends meet.Ā Ā

Housing and resourcesĀ to address the issuesĀ were already scarce, but federal cuts will only further reduce these limited options. Our local leaders need to step up to address this looming issue!Ā Ā

As it gets harder to make ends meet, moreĀ of our neighborsĀ are forcedĀ into homelessness, including families, senior citizens, and people with chronic health conditions.Ā

ApproximatelyĀ 3,000 ChicagoansĀ are at riskĀ of losing their homesĀ due to federal funding cuts and unexpected shortfalls in local housing programs.Ā Ā AsĀ aĀ city,Ā Chicago needs to do everythingĀ weĀ can toĀ preventĀ people from losing their housing, otherwiseĀ weĀ are sure to seeĀ homelessness grow even moreĀ in the coming months and years. PeopleĀ shouldn’tĀ haveĀ toĀ seekĀ shelter in tents onĀ the streets or in parks—we need to ensure that there are housing options and resources available to all members of our communities, no matter their income or background.Ā
