CCH participated in a rally for a fully, funded budget on Thursday, June 30 at the Thompson Center in Chicago. Simultaneously, the Illinois Legislature passed and Governor Rauner signed a stopgap funding plan. SB2047 authorizes spending for human services including programs serving homeless youth, families, and individuals for FY2016 and the first six months of FY2017.
The programs we advocate to protect were funded at the following levels based on FY 2015 funding levels. This reflects our initial analysis of the budget.
Homeless Prevention: 100%
Homeless Youth: 76%
Supportive Housing: 65%
Emergency and Transitional: 100%
Chicago Coalition for the Homeless will continue to advocate for a fully funded responsible budget with adequate revenue. A responsible budget would be one that stops making cuts and restores funding to programs cut by the budget crisis.
