Advocates braved below-freezing temps to protest Tuesday’s sweep, which came before the 20 Legion Park residents were able to move into affordable housing promised by the city.

Ramirez has called the North Side park home for about five years. In the past two years, Ramirez said he’s experienced three encampment sweeps at Legion Park.

“I’m going to a church for today, but I don’t know about next week, or after that,” Ramirez said as he fiddled with a hand warmer.
