Homeless Prevention Funds
- Chicago resident
- Able to document crisis (job loss, medical emergency, loss of public benefits, etc.)
- Able to document the ability to afford rent and utilities in the future without assistance.
Call 311 or (312)744-5000 and ask for “rental assistance” or the homeless prevention program.
Emergency Rental Assistance Program
One-time assistance with rent or past-due rent.
Eligibility
- Chicago resident
- Able to document imminent eviction due to loss of income, fire/flood, order to vacate, or domestic violence
Apply for emergency rental assistance at one of the 6 DFSS Community Service Centers.
Suburban Cook County
For rental assistance in Suburban Cook County, call (877) 426-6515 between 8:30-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Homeless Prevention Call Center handles calls related to rent, security deposits, utilities, and mortgage assistance. Note that funds are limited and may not be available.
