No one understands homelessness like someone who has lived through it.
Chicago Coalition for the Homeless offers outreach at family and adult shelters, transitional and interim housing, and single-room occupancy (SRO) facilities. Each month we visit more than 30 facilities across Chicago, talking to people about their experiences with homelessness and making plans for how we can help them make better lives for themselves.
During these visits, CCH offers practical information. This includes telling parents about a homeless child's right to free transportation to school, or informing low-income adults of their eligibility to apply for charity care from non-profit hospitals.
