A Facebook vote for youth provider TLP!

Teen Living Programs (TLP) serves homeless and unaccompanied youth, one of the respected providers where our youth attorney offers weekly outreach. Through a nationwide contest on Facebook, TLP has a chance to win a large grant from JPMorgan Chase Bank. (In a separate effort, Chase also generously funds our Law Project’s back-to-school outreach in the Austin neighborhood.)

Can you help? Do you Facebook? If you or your kids use Facebook, please use it to cast a vote for TLP before midnight Friday, Jan. 22. Get more information on the TLP website, or look up Chase Community Giving, http://apps.facebook.com/chasecommunitygiving/

TLP is competing with 99 other non-profits that won the first round of voting a month ago, earning each a $25,000 grant. Now, the top five will win $100,000, and the winner will get $1 million. TLP was at 62nd place this afternoon, so votes are needed fast.

Homeless youth providers, like many human service providers across Illinois, have faced funding hardships caused by reduced state reimbursements, paid months late. Youth providers saw a 12% funding cut this fiscal year, with no FY 2010 funding paid until late December, when payments for the July – September 1st quarter finally were sent.
